As evidence of past Halloween celebrations at UCCS, this photo of a pumpkin carving contest comes from the late 1980s. The event was held in the University Center and was likely hosted by Student Life. Featured alongside the contest winning pumpkins are the prizes given for each category such as $20 at the Sunbird restaurant, which has since closed, or $20 at Señor Manuels, which is under currently closed due to fire damage. Today, UCCS continues to hold Halloween events such as “Halloween Donuts by the SRO,” where members of the College of Education will be handing out free donuts in University Hall on Oct. 31.
