Clydechella, the spring concert on the lawn, was funded almost entirely by the university’s Pepsi contract.
The concert, held on April 24, was funded by Pepsi programming dollars from UCCS’ contract with the brand, according to Director of Student Engagement, Noelle San Souci. With this contract, Pepsi funds the university $20,000 each academic year for student engagement activities. The remaining $5,000 was funded via Student Life’s Student Activities budget.
The decision to host another concert this academic year came after the success of the Waka Flocka Flame concert in Fall 2024, when staff and faculty received positive feedback about the show, San Souci said. The Waka Flaka Flame concert cost the university approximately $70,000, $45,000 more than Clydechella, and was funded by SGA’s student activity fee.
Clydechella had three performers: the opener, Chasyn, and the headliners, Almost Monday and DJ Viaza. Chasyn and DJ Viaza cost a combined $2,400, and Almost Monday cost $11,500 according to San Souci. The stage, lights and production for the performers cost $7,500.
There were three activities offered to students for no charge: roasting s’mores, making flower crowns and four face paint stations. The student activities cost approximately $1,500.
The event featured free food and drinks for students. UCCS catered corndogs, Mexican street corn and fruit kabobs. According to San Souci, catering cost approximately $2,000.
San Souci said Student Life hopes to make Clydechella an annual event.
