Law, Punishment, and Evangelicalism
Join the Center for the Study of Evangelicalism for a public lecture from Aaron Griffith, Assistant Professor of American Church History at Duke Divinity School. His work focuses on evangelicalism and religion in American politics and criminal justice. Griffith's book God's Law & Order: The Politics of Punishment in Evangelical America looks at how evangelicals shaped, and were shaped by, the American criminal justice system. God's Law & Order won the 2022 "Best Book in History & Biography" award from Christianity Today. This lecture is free and open to the public and will be hosted at the Heller Center for Arts & Humanities, 1250 N Campus Heights. Doors open at 5:30, Lecture starts at 6pm with public Q&A to follow.
