- Mar 126:00 PMLegends of Mycology – "Mushrooms of the Upper Amazon Basin" An Evening with World-Renowned Mycologist Larry EvansCU Mycological Society & Pikes Peak Mycological Society Present: The Legends of Mycology Lecture Series: Mushrooms of the Upper Amazon Basin: An Evening with Larry Evans, World-Renowned Mycologist, Educator, and Adventurer Join us for a special evening with Larry Evans, on Wednesday, March 12th From 6:00PM to 8:00PM MST to hear about Larry's recent adventure exploring the mushrooms of Bolivia's rainforest! Larry Evans is a true luminary in the world of mycology. With a career spanning over four decades, Larry has dedicated his life to the study, education, and conservation of fungi. He is the founder of the Western Montana Mycological Association, a hub for mycological exploration and community building in the Northern Rockies. Larry has also made significant contributions to public understanding of mushrooms through his research, writing, and outreach efforts. He holds a background in ecology and environmental science, which has shaped his holistic approach to understanding fungi within broader ecosystems. You may recognize his work from the acclaimed documentary Know Your Mushrooms, where he brought his knowledge and charisma to audiences worldwide. But Larry’s creativity doesn’t stop at fungi—he is also the co-creator of an incredible mushroom-themed album, "Fungal Boogie", made in collaboration with Zoe Wood. It’s a delightful fusion of music and mycology that captures his passion for teaching in a whole new way. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The Legends of Mycology Lecture Series is an exclusive series of lectures hosted by the CU Mycological Society at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) in partnership with the Pikes Peak Mycological Society.
