Faculty in the College of Business get paid the most on average

At UCCS, salaries for full-time faculty vary between colleges by $44,528, with the highest paid faculty being those in the College of Business. 

Salaries of faculty range from an approximate average of $74,051 for education faculty, to $118,579 for College of Business faculty. For the 2024-25 school year, the median salary across all departments and tenure-statuses is approximately $80,098.53. 

The CU system provides approximated data for 2024-25 salaries of faculty on the CU Salary Database.  

By college and department 

The two highest paid faculty by college are the College of Business and the College of Engineering and Applied Science. The average salary between these two colleges is $112,993.50.  

The lowest average salary is in the College of Education. There is a difference of less than $10,000 between the average salary in the College of Education and the average salary in the third highest paid college, the College of Public Service. 

There is an over $20,000 difference between the average salary in the College of Public Service and the average salaries in the College of Business and the College of Engineering and Applied Science. 

Outside of the College of Business and the College of Engineering, the highest paid faculty are in the economics and psychology departments, with average salaries of $91,604 and $94,941, respectively. 

By department, the bottom five salaries belong to faculty in the Department of Counseling and Human Services, the Department of English, the Innovation Program, the Department of Visual and Performing Arts and the Department of Foreign Languages & Cultures. The average salary for faculty in these programs is approximately $66,253.25 

The chancellor’s salary is $416,000. The average salary for assistant vice chancellors is $170,716. Across vice chancellors the average salary is $244,990. For deans, the average salary is $212,264. 

By tenure status 

Full-time faculty includes non-tenure track, tenure-track and tenured faculty. Assistant teaching professors, associate teaching professors and teaching professors are non-tenure-track. Assistant professors are tenure-track, and associate professors and professors are tenured. 

For non-tenured faculty the median salaries are $54,000 for assistant teaching professors, $59,195 for associate teaching professors and $62,000 for teaching professors. For faculty on the tenure-track, the median salary is $77,012 for assistant professors and $89,253 for associate professors. The median salary for tenured professors is $115,053.
