The lacrosse team opened their season with a victory over Davenport, 18-13, on Feb. 25.  

Freshman midfielder Sofia Watts scored the first goal of the game 3 minutes into the first quarter. The first half saw both teams trading goals, with neither able to pull ahead by more than a few points.  The game was tied, 9-9, heading into halftime. 

The Mountain Lions kicked off the second half with a pair of goals in the first 5 minutes of the third. The first scored by sophomore midfielder Kylie Cuddahy and the second by junior midfielder Payton Ross, giving UCCS the lead, 11-9. The game ended 18-13, with sophomore attacker Sarah Urbanic scoring the final point, and her fourth goal of the game, midway through the fourth quarter. 

Sophomore attacker Emma Grace Martin led the team’s scoring with 5 goals.  

Since beating Davenport, the Mountain Lions lost to Rockhurst, 16-10, and defeated Missouri Western State in overtime, 16-15. The lacrosse team plays at home on March 5 against Ashland.
