Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Science. Register at: April 9 Ethics Roundtable Navigating the world of collegiate athletics in the era of NIL deals add an extra layer of complexity. In collegiate football, with the addition of the new playoff system along with bowl games, some collegiate-athletes have chosen to sit out their last game of their collegiate career to reduce the risk of injury as they anticipate playing at the next level in the NFL. Students will participate in a debate on the pros and cons of participating in the bowl game or playoff game through the lens of the UCCS Ethics Initiative and the DFEI principles to support their stance. Lunch is provided with in person registration. Virtual Option Available. Roundtables are held throughout the academic year, and are open to all UCCS faculty, staff, Southern Colorado Ethics Consortium schools and interested students. This event provides an opportunity to share best practices, classroom experiences, subject specific course materials, and address specific concerns. This presentation will focus primarily on mushrooms of the Rocky Mountains, however fascinating fungi from other regions will also be discussed. We will learn the basic identification of edible, medicinal, and poisonous mushrooms and discuss fungi’s important role in the ecosystem. Ben Kinsley is an artist, educator, and amateur mycologist. He was introduced to the world of mycology through his involvement with the New York Mycological Society where he got hooked through the teachings of renowned mycologist Gary Lincoff. He is a past president and current board member of the Pikes Peak Mycological Society (PPMS) in Colorado Springs. He has led identification forays with PPMS, the North American Mycological Association (NAMA), and the Telluride Mushroom Festival.
