- Feb 36:00 PMRatio Christi MeetingOur meetings are a place for students to foster critical thinking, the use of logic, and evidential and philosophical tools in the pursuit of truth in understanding the world and religious beliefs. We encourage and strengthen the faith of Christian students and faculty while sharing Christ's message and love. - Feb 48:30 AMDFEI Ethics Roundtable: Determining the Ethics of Standards-Based AssessmentJoin us to learn from ethics fellow Curtis Turner, Associate Teaching Professor, Alternative Licensure Program Coordinator, Teaching and Learning, College of Education on determining the ethics of standards-based assessments. In Colorado, students receive annual reports from standard assessments, with more than half failing to meet grade-level expectations. As a result, these students are repeatedly told they have "failed" year after year. In this roundtable, we will explore the potential long-term effects this repeated messaging may have on students' self-perception, motivation, and future success. Additionally, we will discuss the role educators can play in mitigating the negative consequences of these assessments and in fostering a more supportive learning environment. Learn strategies to prepare future educators to address and counteract this ethical issue! Register at Feb 4 2025 Roundtable Breakfast is provided. Virtual option available. ------------------------------------------------- DFEI Ethics Roundtables are lectures or workshops featuring faculty and staff who have been selected as Ethics Fellows. Roundtables are held throughout the academic year, and are open to all UCCS faculty, staff, Southern Colorado Ethics Consortium schools and interested students. This event provides an opportunity to share best practices, classroom experiences, subject specific course materials, and address specific concerns. Roundtables provide UCCS faculty and staff along with invited guests the opportunity to hear about how others teach ethics and implement principle-based ethics in their work or area of expertise.Hosted by: College of Business, Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program at UCCSAdditional Information can be found at: https://mlc.uccs.edu/event/10340179
