Men’s basketball secured an 84-79 victory against Chadron State on Dec. 14.  The Mountain Lions season record is now 6-4 (RMAC: 2-2). 

The Mountain Lions came out strong in the first half, leading by 9 points at halftime, 49-40.  With 7 minutes remaining in the second half, the Mountain Lions led by 17. Chadron State brought the winning margin down to 5 with a late rally, but UCCS held on to bring their RMAC record to 2-2.  

Freshman guard Gavin Carter was the standout performer of the night, scoring 16 points. Graduate student forward William Becker and junior guard Jezza Mckenzie were tied for second-most points with 13. 

With this victory, UCCS has 30-17 all-time record against the Chadron State Eagles. The men’s basketball team plays next at home against Bethany College on Dec. 20 at 3 p.m.
