At UCCS, all students are given the opportunity to grow, excel and be rewarded for outstanding achievements. This year, the “Mountain Lion of the Year” award was given to someone who truly captures what it means to think outside the box.
On March 21, the office of the dean of students announced the recipient of their “Mountain Lion of the Year” award. Ford F-150 is a 5th-year vehicular aggression and PGA golf management double major.
According to Student Life, F-150 embodies UCCS’ vision statement and core values, particularly in his “spirit of discovery and [mission to] broaden access” to the spot on the other side of the line.
“UCCS is dedicated to promoting innovation, collaboration and dynamic responsible growth. I like to think that what I do in Gateway Garage captures all those things,” he said.
“I’ve always been a creative person. I like to color outside of the lines, break the mold, that sort of thing,” F-150 said.
In his free time, F-150 likes asking girls on campus for their Snapchat and blinding people in Alpine with his LED headlights.
F-150 said that he wanted to use his exposure to meet new people. “Ladies, I am single. On a date with me, you can expect a lovely night of me showing you my camera roll, stiffing the waiter and driving way too fast for comfort,” he said.
F-150 told the Scribble about his plans for serving the student body going forward. “Right now, I am working on an exciting collaboration with Guythatparks KiaSoulinregularspot. It’s going to be big,” he said.
To combat the spring semester slump, F-150 and KiaSoulinregularspot announced their newest initiative to keep commuter students on their toes. “I park on the corner, and KiaSoulinregularspot parks right next to me, just out of view, to allow other drivers to think for a split second that they actually found an open spot,” he said.
F-150 and KiaSoulinregularspot will also be launching a podcast starting in April. They will host guest speakers such as Guywhoparksright Nexttoyouinemptylot and Eighty Inatwentyfive. The pair will debate ethical questions and discuss current events.
“I am honored to be here. Hopefully, I can continue my work increasing the blood pressure of students driving around the corners of our beautiful parking garages at UCCS,” F-150 said.
F-150 nominated himself for the award.
